Today marks the end of the first week of my internship and the beginning of my first weekend here in NYC. This week has been perhaps the most useful week of my life as I have learned many things both about the business I want to get into and about how I work. Most of my daily tasks have been simple and completable within a few hours. This includes my creation of a blog banner on monday, my design for Flightpath's shipping label, and the tutorial videos I watched and then tried for myself. Throughout this week I have been expanding my knowledge not only in Adobe Photoshop, but also in Adobe Illustrator. Learning this new program has been somewhat of a challenge for me as it does not behave in the same way that photoshop does but rather in it's own, slightly more confusing way. Learning Illustrator has been slow but progress is definitely noticeable and I think this is a success in itself. Most of my assignments this week have been given to me by my mentor, Steven Louie; this includes the copy deck, shipping label, and tutorial videos to help me expand my knowledge base. Another designer on the team by the name of Max has also given me a little work throughout this week that we have worked in loose tandem on such as the banner for the blog post. As of right now my LINK project still remains in the brainstorming phase. Goals for next week are to make more progress if not finish the copy deck and to come up with an idea for my LINK project.
